Via Vadis LLC Files Infringement Lawsuit against Skype

Skype sued for Patent Infringement
Skype, a well known name helping its subscribers in terms of calling, video calling, messaging, and managing their day to day activities over their computers, mobile phones and TVs was sued in U.S. federal court Thursday for infringing two patents (US RE40521 & US 7904680) owned by a Luxembourg based Via Vadis LLC.  The plaintiff launched the complaint against Skype on Thursday stating that the defendant company was infringing two of their patents related to accessing and managing data in computer systems.
The plaintiff is seeking damages against infringement activity of Skype along with the injunction.  The plaintiff has already initiated a legal action against Skype in Germany and Luxembourg.

First Patent of the world?
The first patent of the world was granted to an architect Filippo Brunelleschi from Florentine.  Filippo received a three-year patent for his invention relating to a system which included a barge with hoisting gear that carried marble along the Arno River and a related method for transporting marble more cheaply via a paddleboat in 1421.
First Trademark of the world?
Back in the 19th century the Bass & Co Brewery used a Red Triangle logo for their pale ale and in 1876 this logo went on the become the world's first trademark.

LML Patent Corp. Inc. accepts $13 million in patent dispute

LML Patent Corp. Inc., a fully-owned U.S. subsidiary of Vancouver-based LML Payment Systems Inc. is going to receive $13 million after settling patent disputes this week with Citigroup Inc. and HSBC Holdings. The company has announced that its going to receive a $7.5-million from Citigroup & a $5.5-million from HSBC as a lumpsum amount towards use of their patented technology on cheque conversion transaction. The amount agreed is assumed to be towards licensing considered from 2008-2013. With this the infringement case between the LML Payment Systems Inc. Vs Citigroup Inc.& HSBC came to end.
